Paul Walde is presenting new work in the exhibition Last Stand: Ancient Forests, Collective Action curated by Jessie Demers which is part of Walde’s involvement with the Eden Grove Artist in Residence Program. The exhibition is at Fortune Gallery in Victoria, BC and runs from August 9th to September 4th 2021. The opening is Saturday August 14th from 3-5pm and the gallery is open 12-5pm Tuesday through Saturday.

Sunday, July 18 from 11 am – 12 pm, as part of the World Listening Day, Experimental Music Unit: George Tzanetakis – bass clarinet, Paul Walde – percussion, and Tina Pearson – voice, flute, percussion will perform LAND SEA SKY at Finnerty Cove, on Lekwungen territory. LAND SEA SKY is a text score written by Pearson for EMU. It reflects the trio’s relationships of listening and playing closely together through 10 years and multiple collaborative projects, and its increasing focus on land-based artmaking, including Biospheric Art Practice**. During the composition of the piece, EMU friend and colleague Raj Sen, director of Victoria’s Open Space, passed away. Raj’s remarkable and generous spirit inspired the final version of the piece, which is dedicated to him. On the same day, a video of EMU’s first performance of this piece will be streamed as part of the World Listening Day 24-hour stream on their youtube channel here.
