On the morning of July 8th, Paul Walde swam the 3km length of Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Canadian painter Tom Thomson. The swim was accompanied by a brass band with a mandolin soloist performing a new long form music composition by Walde , three synchronized swimming routines a various points along the route, and a flotilla of canoes carrying the band. An audio video installation version of the piece created in part from documentation of the event will be available for exhibition in 2018.
