Glacial: Photographic Installation

The photographic installation is a detail of the large-scale panoramic image that the Glacial video is based upon. The image is made up of hundreds of shots that were taken in the space of a few minutes, that were subsequently painstakingly stitched together over a period of several months. This enormous high resolution image essentially serves as both the set and the subject of the installation as the video is in fact a virtual camera path through a still image. At 10′ (3.05m) x17′ (5.2m) the Coleman Glacier is recontextualized into the urban environment, pointing to the connections between human activity in these centres to the fate of the glacier in its remote environment.
